every journey starts somewhere.
ours began in a small village in the south of the Netherlands.
at first, Independent Studios wasn't meant to become a cycling brand. it started as a casual clothing label, a place to create freely and bring ideas to life.
then cycling found its way back.
having spent years racing as a junior cyclist, i knew how special the sport could be. but I also felt it deserved more creativity. more colour. more individuality. less conformity.
instead of leaving one world behind to build another, we brought them together.
today, that combination still defines everything we create.
more than products
as Independent Studios grew, the clothing became only one part of the story.
a collection can begin with almost anything: a place, a conversation, an old photograph or an idea that stays in our minds longer than expected. from there, it slowly becomes a world of its own shaped through design, photography, movement and the people involved along the way.
that is why we have never wanted to create products simply to fill a collection.
everything we make should carry a feeling. it should remind you of somewhere you have been, introduce you to someone new or become part of a story that is still unfolding.
the clothing is where the idea becomes tangible.
but the real value lies in everything it creates around it: the rides, the images, the conversations, the unexpected meetings and the memories that remain long after the collection is gone.
